This Privacy Policy explains how Akbilisim (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, processes, and protects personal information when you visit our websites, create a customer account, purchase or subscribe to Buzzy, activate a software license, request technical support, or otherwise interact with our products and services (collectively, the “Services”).

This Privacy Policy applies solely to Akbilisim-operated websites, customer accounts, licensing verification servers, software delivery channels, and support infrastructure.

Important Note for Self-Hosted Sites: This Privacy Policy does not govern the independent data-collection and privacy practices of websites created, hosted, or operated by Buzzy customers. If you visit a website powered by Buzzy, please consult the privacy policy of that specific website operator.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you directly provide to us and limited technical information automatically generated when you interact with our websites, licensing servers, or support systems.

Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Name, email address, username, password hash, and account preferences necessary to establish and maintain your Akbilisim account.
  • Purchase and Subscription Records: Plan type, subscription status, transaction identifiers, billing country, VAT/tax status, renewal schedules, and entitlement history. Payments and checkout are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Akbilisim does not receive or store complete credit-card numbers or payment-instrument details.
  • License and Activation Data: License keys, purchased tiers, activation tokens, permitted domain counts, and activation histories.
  • Support Communications: Messages, ticket details, diagnostic logs, screenshots, and error reports you voluntarily submit when requesting technical assistance.
  • Communication Preferences: Your preferences regarding product updates, security advisories, and optional promotional announcements.

2. License Activation and Technical Telemetry

To ensure license validity, authorize automatic software updates, prevent piracy, and verify companion plugin entitlements, Buzzy periodically communicates securely with Akbilisim licensing servers.

During license verification, the following technical data may be transmitted:

  • License or activation identifiers;
  • Website domain name or installation URL;
  • Server IP address;
  • Buzzy version;
  • PHP or server version;
  • Subscription and entitlement status;
  • Timestamps associated with license, download, or update requests.

Privacy Guarantee: No Content Inspection

Our licensing verification mechanisms are strictly technical. We do not use license verification to inspect, read, scrape, collect, or store private editorial content, articles, draft posts, member profiles, user comments, or visitor database records from your self-hosted website.

3. Information Collected Automatically on Our Websites

When you visit Akbilisim websites or use our customer portal, certain technical data may be automatically logged:

  • IP address and approximate geographic location (country/city level);
  • Browser user agent, version, and operating system;
  • Referring URLs and exit pages;
  • Date, time, and duration of page visits;
  • Diagnostic performance and error logs.

This information is utilized for security monitoring, DDoS mitigation, fraud prevention, and performance optimization.

4. How We Use Personal Information

We process personal information for the following legitimate business and contractual purposes:

  • To create, manage, and secure your Akbilisim customer account;
  • To fulfill software orders, deliver license keys, and manage subscription entitlements;
  • To operate our licensing verification system and authorize automatic software updates;
  • To provide technical support, troubleshoot reproducible bugs, and handle customer service requests;
  • To facilitate subscription billing, invoicing, and renewal notices through Paddle;
  • To detect, prevent, and mitigate software piracy, fraudulent transactions, license abuse, and security vulnerabilities;
  • To communicate critical security notices, compatibility alerts, and administrative updates;
  • To comply with accounting, tax, regulatory, and legal obligations;
  • To improve our software architecture, documentation, and user experience.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

5. Paddle as Merchant of Record

Buzzy subscriptions and digital software orders are sold and processed through Paddle, which acts as our Merchant of Record.

Paddle independently handles:

  • Secure payment processing across various payment methods (credit card, PayPal, etc.);
  • Invoicing and billing operations;
  • Automated calculation, collection, and remittance of VAT, GST, sales tax, and local digital taxes;
  • Fraud detection and risk assessment;
  • Customer refund requests and payment disputes.

Paddle provides Akbilisim with transaction confirmation records necessary to fulfill your order and provision your license. Paddle processes your data under its own privacy policies and regulatory standards.

6. Third-Party Services and Integrations

Buzzy software includes integrations with third-party platforms and APIs:

AI Integrations (Buzzy Content Agent)

  • Buzzy Content Agent allows website owners to connect external AI services (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini) using their own API credentials.
  • Any prompts or data sent to those AI providers are transmitted directly between your server and the chosen AI provider under your own account terms with them. Akbilisim does not intercept or store your AI API calls or prompts unless expressly specified.

Publisher Payment Integrations (Buzzy Subscriptions)

  • Buzzy Subscriptions allows website publishers to accept memberships and subscriber payments from their own audiences via payment gateways (e.g., Stripe, PayPal).
  • Financial transactions on your self-hosted website take place between you and your end users. Akbilisim is not the Merchant of Record for your website's transactions and does not collect or process your end users' payment details.
  • As a site operator, you are responsible for maintaining your own privacy disclosures for your website's users.

7. Service Providers and Data Sharing

We may share personal information with trusted service providers where reasonably necessary to operate our business and provide our services:

  • Paddle: Merchant of Record, payment processing, tax compliance, and billing management.
  • Cloudflare: Content delivery network (CDN), DDoS protection, DNS, and web application firewall security.
  • Transactional Email Services: Reliable delivery of account verification emails, password resets, license keys, and support ticket notifications.
  • Hosting and Cloud Infrastructure: Secure cloud servers hosting our websites, customer portal, licensing APIs, and support systems.

We may also disclose personal information if required by law, valid subpoena, court order, or governmental regulation, or when necessary to protect the legal rights, safety, and property of Akbilisim, our users, or the public.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies on our websites for:

  • Maintaining authenticated user sessions and security tokens;
  • Preserving shopping cart state and checkout preferences;
  • Remembering user interface preferences (e.g., light/dark mode);
  • Aggregated website traffic analytics and performance metrics.

You can configure your browser to reject cookies or notify you when cookies are being set. Note that disabling essential cookies may impact account authentication and checkout functionality.

9. Marketing Communications

Where permitted by applicable law or with your explicit consent, we may send you occasional email announcements regarding major Buzzy releases, new companion plugins, or special promotional offers.

You may opt out of promotional emails at any time by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link included in each marketing message or by contacting us. Essential transactional and security messages (such as license key delivery, renewal notices, and security advisories) cannot be unsubscribed from while you maintain an active account or subscription.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to safeguard personal information, which may include:

  • HTTPS/TLS encryption for web traffic and licensing API communications;
  • Standard password hashing mechanisms;
  • Role-based access controls for administrative systems;
  • Security monitoring, access logging, and regular system maintenance.

While we take reasonable precautions, no internet-based transmission or digital storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are also responsible for safeguarding your account credentials, license keys, and server access.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, including:

  • Maintaining your customer account and active license records;
  • Providing ongoing technical support and software updates;
  • Complying with statutory tax, accounting, and legal record-keeping obligations;
  • Resolving disputes and enforcing our legal agreements.

When personal data is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
