10. The Classic Spider-Suit Will Always Be The Best

Plenty of costumes age poorly as the years go by, forcing entire redesigns to keep with the times. Spider-Man is quite different, however. His suit has survived throughout the decades and looks as fresh and iconic as the first day that comic book fans first saw him.

Sure, the classic suit has been put in the closet more than a few times over the years, but Peter Parker keeps coming back to one of Marvel's best costumes for a reason. A change of threads is great, but audiences can't go long before yearning for the red and blue costume that made the amazing Spider-Man a mythical superhero for the ages.^[1]

9. Miles Morales' Spider-Suits Stood Out

Miles Morales began his career in Marvel's original Ultimate Universe where he took over as Spider-Man after the death of Peter Parker. However, Miles has since moved to the mainstream reality to work alongside Peter Parker and further earn his title as Spider-Man.

S.H.I.E.L.D. gave Morales his first suit, one of the best-designed new costumes from the last few decades. He recently designed his take on the costume, leaving his stamp on the legacy. His costume was upgraded when Miles Morales appeared in 2023's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, though the comic version returned to his classic look soon enough.^[2]

8. Spider-Man's Spider-Armor MK II Was Bulletproof

Peter Parker's time working as a research scientist at Horizon Labs came with quite a few benefits to his career as Spider-Man. He was able to not only capitalize on his inventions as Spider-Man, but Peter Parker was also able to utilize Horizon's resources to create new suits when needed.

Spider-Man created his unique bulletproof armor after facing a gun-toting mass murderer known as Massacre. The bulletproof suit was officially known as the Spider-Armor Mk II, and it gave Spider-Man a brand new color scheme and profile that wowed fans. He only wore the costume a few times, though it showcased the character's inventive potential.^[3]

7. Oscorp's Goblin-Inspired Spider-Suit Was Menacing

During a recent dark period, Peter Parker took a new job with a reformed Norman Osborn that came with an advanced new Spider-Man suit. Norman Osborn's former Green Goblin identity inspired some of the tech used in Parker's new Spider-Man costume, including an advanced new spider-glider that he wore like a high-tech backpack.

Spider-Man's Oscorp suit followed the usual red and blue color scheme but featured an additional yellow light feature in the eye lens, chest insignia, and along the forearms. His new suit came with an Egg-Bomb belt with weapons that contained thousands of nano spider-bots to further showcase the Goblin's influence on Spider-Man's newest costume.^[4]

6. The Captain Universe Spider-Suit Has The Ultra-Power

Spider-Man hit the proverbial jackpot when he received the powers of Captain Universe. Spidey gained several extraordinary abilities besides major enhancements to his existing senses as host to the Uni-Power. Although the mainline Spider-Man gave up these powers after a short time, his Earth-13 counterpart remained Captain Universe until he died in the Spider-Verse event.

This Spider-Man could fire energy blasts and use telekinesis in battle, far beyond anything he'd experienced as a New York City wall-crawler. Since the Uni-Power granted each host a specific set of powers best suited to that person, it granted Spidey the abilities he needed to accomplish his task along with the shared uniform of Captain Universe.^[5]

5. Miles Morales Recently Gained A New Vibranium Suit

Another member of Spider-Man's extended family who has been through quite a bit recently is Miles Morales. Not only has the young Spider-Man had to deal with and adapt to his own increasing bio-electric abilities, but he was also recently transformed into a vampire during Marvel's Blood Hunt event.

While most heroes reverted after the event, Miles Morales retained his particular strain of vampirism.

He found allies to help him deal with his new transformation as a member of the Blood Hunters. However, Black Panther, another former vampire, came up with a solution. T'Challa designed a new Vibranium Spider-Man suit for Miles Morales to help cure him of the remaining vampirism or make it even worse if the Vibranium didn't work. The suit itself featured an exciting new design that simplified Miles's normal suit with an exciting new color scheme as well.

4. Spider-Man Needed His Flexisuit to Free a Group of Imprisoned Aliens

As noted, it looks like Peter Parker has abandoned the Earth, which is what has led to Norman Osborn becoming Spider-Man. In reality, Spider-Man was transported to another planet. He was surviving on whatever small creatures he could hunt down, and he was slowly running out of food. He was rescued by a mysterious alien scientist who had a special "Flexisuit" built out of the corpse of a member of the Technarch (Warlock's people).

Peter spent time with the scientist trying to work on getting stronger (to get a rematch with the bad guy who had abandoned Spider-Man on the planet), and the two became friends. However, one day, Peter discovered a whole other floor of the scientist's spaceship, where he kept aliens in cages that he experimented on. Peter couldn't look past this, so fought the scientist for their freedom. The thing that turned the tables was Peter getting a hold of the Flexisuit, which has a number of interesting symbiote-like properties. Spider-Man saved the prisoners, and now they are all trying to get back to their homes.^[6]

3. Spider-Man Needed a Magical Suit to Defeat the Scions of Cyttorak

When he was the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange would have to defend Earth from the Scions of Cyttorak every few years as part of a bargain Strange made with the powerful demonic being. However, when Doctor Doom took over as Sorcerer Supreme, he no longer felt like doing it, especially since it would often involve dying multiple times (and resurrecting oneself with magical reeds). Doom tricked Spider-Man into taking over the task.

Spider-Man was given a magical suit of armor to help him fight the Scions of Cyttorak (but he still needed the reeds to resurrect himself a number of times after dying defeating the various Scions).^[7]

2. Ben Reilly Put His Own Spin On His First Spider-Man Costume

For a period of time, Ben Reilly believed that he was the REAL Peter Parker, and Peter Parker was a clone. Peter and his wife, Mary Jane, decided to leave New York City to raise their child (Mary Jane was pregnant at the time), and leave Ben in charge of New York City. Ben was going to continue to fight crime as the Scarlet Spider (you'll see his costume later on the list), but then a villain soiled the Scarlet Spider identity.

So Ben decided he needed to return to the Spider-Man identity, although he made adjustments to make the suit feel more like his. He also cut his hair, and dyed it blonde so that he could live in New York City as Ben Reilly without people assuming he was Peter Parker.^[8]

1. Norman Osborn's Spider-Man Costume is Meant to Look as Close to the Original as Possibel

During a recent Amazing Spider-Man storyline, Peter Parker seemingly decided to no longer be Spider-Man. Norman Osborn had been working with Peter for a while now, helping him with technology and financial assistance, but he was shocked that Peter rebuffed his requests for Peter to return to becoming Spider-Man. With a crime spree affecting the Spidey-less New York City, Osborn decided that there HAD to be a Spider-Man, and so he used technology to replicate Spider-Man's powers as best he could.

His costume is very similar to Spider-Man's, as he WANTS people to believe he is Spider-Man (even if his actions are far more brutal than the real Spider-Man), but there are some differences, like the web-shooting bracelets he wears (to protect his wrists when he swings) and a device around his ankles, presumably to help him as he swings across the rooftops of New York.^[9]
