Sonic the Hedgehog Returns With 35th Anniversary Collection Available Now

Sega has announced a new line of Halloween Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise for the franchise's 35th anniversary, with the iconic characters from the video games dressing up for the spooky season.

Like so many '90s video game characters, Sonic the Hedgehog was a popular topic for old Internet creepypastas, with Sonic.EXE being the most famous, depicting a cursed video game, where Sonic has become an evil entity and killed everyone in his world. Thankfully, the actual Sonic the Hedgehog games are seldom scary, save for the one from 2006, which was incredibly terrifying, but for all the wrong reasons.

Sonic The Hedgehog Halloween 2026 Merchandise Is Available

The official Sega Shop website has added new Sonic the Hedgehog items for Halloween, for those who wish to represent the blue blur over the spooky season. The new selection includes a crew neck top depicting a Frankenstein's monster version of Sonic, a T-shirt showing creepy versions of the main cast of good guys, and a tote bag with a purple-colored Sonic that bears a passing resemblance to Sonic.EXE, thanks to its black eyes.

Finally, there's a set of enamel pins, featuring a vampire Sonic, devil Knuckles, and a creature from the Black Lagoon Tails. The box also shows Halloween versions of different Sonic the Hedgehog characters, such as an evil clown Dr. Robotnik, a mummy Metal Sonic, a vampire Amy, and a Frankenstein's monster Shadow. Sadly, these don't appear to be part of the set.

While the pin set can be ordered now, the clothing items and the bag are made to order, meaning they don't have an exact release date. This means fans might not get them until shortly before the Halloween weekend arrives, though ordering them soon at least means there's more of a chance they'll get there on time.

There's No Scarier Halloween Outfit Than A Sonic The Hedgehog Fan

Sonic the Hedgehog is currently on an upswing, with the movies doing extremely well at the box office, and the video games being mostly fun, which is considered a win state for a fanbase so used to a franchise that spent decades seemingly on its last legs. The stigma of being a Sonic the Hedgehog fan has slowly diminished over time, especially as new people are welcomed in through the movies and modern games.

Whether the stigma of being a Sonic the Hedgehog fan is enough to make people want to rep him on Halloween is another matter. Then again, there are few things scarier than someone walking around in Sonic the Hedgehog merch, so maybe it's the ideal costume for the spooky season.
