Brooklyn Nine-Nine Revival With Jake & Amy Gets Official Update From Creator
Brooklyn Nine-Nine creator Dan Goor officially addresses reuniting Jake and Amy.

It's not uncommon for hit sitcoms from the past to be revived years down the line with revival shows and reunion specials. While it remains to be seen if something like that will happen with Brooklyn Nine-Nine, it's a real possibility that Jake and Amy will be reunited on-screen.

Series co-creator Dan Goor was joined by stars Stephanie Beatriz, Melissa Fumero, and Joe Lo Truglio at New York Comic-Con for a Brooklyn Nine-Nine panel, per TV Insider. While a revival series is not officially in development at this time, Goor commented on potentially reuniting Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Fumero). He was asked what the pair would be up to now, and he hinted that this question may be answered in a revival.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Continued Popularity Could Lead to a Revival

"What are they up to now? I mean, we'll have to have a reunion to see," he said, noting how popular the show continues to be via streaming. "Seeing you guys here makes me think we should do it. Look at the Netflix data [for Brooklyn Nine-Nine's viewership]. It's insane. It's amazing, and we appreciate it."

It certainly helps the show's chances of a revival in some fashion that it remains popular. The series even has a reputation as being one of the rare sitcoms that only gets better with time. Some of the cast members have expressed a desire to revisit their characters with a reunion, but one major issue is that series star Andre Braugher has since passed away.

"We've definitely all played with the idea, and we definitely all miss each other so much, and miss spending our days together," Fumero told ScreenRant in 2024. "I don't think we could ever do it, though, without Andre, so I don't know that that would happen."

Samberg similarly told Collider last year, "I think the Andre [Braugher] factor makes it really difficult, certainly for me. I feel like he was such a huge part of what it was, like the base DNA of why the show works. Never say never. It's a wonderful group of people. I don't know. I love seeing them when I see them in real life, so I would love to work with everyone again in some capacity."

The Series Ran for 5 Seasons on Fox and 3 Seasons on NBC

The series was created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur. The workplace mockumentary series follows the staff of Brooklyn's 99th precinct. Its ensemble cast included Andy Samberg as Jake Peralta, Andre Braugher as Captain Raymond Holt, Melissa Fumero as Amy Santiago, Terry Crews as Terry Jeffords, Stephanie Beatriz as Rosa Diaz, Joe Lo Truglio as Charles Boyle, Chelsea Peretti as Gina Linetti, Drick Blocker as Michael Hitchcock, and Joel McKinnon Miller as Norm Scully.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine originally premiered on Fox in 2013. It was later canceled by the network after five seasons, but NBC quickly scooped it up to continue its run. The sitcom ran for another three seasons on NBC before concluding with Season 8 in 2021.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is streaming on Netflix and Peacock.
