Netflix Reveals First Official Look at Wednesday’s New Era
Netflix's biggest show returns with a long-awaited first look at its upcoming third season.

Wednesday is returning for a third season. While a release date is still unknown, Netflix confirmed that production on the upcoming eight-episode season wrapped today, Sept. 30, coincidentally a Wednesday, by sharing a new look at Jenna Ortega's title character.

Filming on Wednesday Season 3 had been underway since Feb. 23, 2026. The new look at Ortega's Wednesday Addams that Netflix Tudum shared to mark the completion of production shows the Addams Family member seated behind her typewriter. Tudum also reshared the behind-the-scenes image that revealed that Wednesday and Thing would be going to Paris at some point in Season 3.

Wednesday Addams Is Heading to Paris in Season 3

For its first two seasons, Wednesday followed its title character as she attended Nevermore Academy. Each season saw Wednesday attempting to master her emerging psychic ability and solve a murder mystery. However, the third season is shaking that formula up, with Wednesday instead set to trek across Europe, likely in search of Emma Myers' Enid, who disappeared at the end of Season 2 after she risked permanently becoming an alpha werewolf in order to save Wednesday.

"Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” co-creator and co-showrunner Alfred Gough told Tudum. "We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday."

While Wednesday does revolve largely around its title character, the Netflix show has managed to seamlessly weave in the rest of the Addams Family. Wednesday's parents, Gomez and Morticia Addams, and brother Pugsley were guest stars in the first season before being promoted to the main cast beginning with Season 2. Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Isaac Ordonez portray them, respectively.

Other members of the Addams Family who have appeared include Fred Armisen's Uncle Fester and Joanna Lumley's Grandmama Hester Frump, the latter of whom joined the show in Season 2. This trend of adding new family members to Wednesday will continue in Season 3 with the arrival of Eva Green as Aunt Ophelia Frump. The enigmatic and "missing" sister of Morticia was first mentioned in Season 2.

Wednesday Season 3 Cast Announcement Netflix

When Green's casting was first announced, Gough and fellow co-creator/co-showrunner Miles Millar told Tudum, "Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen — elegant, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable. Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia. We’re excited to see how she transforms the role and expands Wednesday’s world."

Green also expressed her excitement at joining Wednesday at the time. "I’m thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world, I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family," she said.

Joining Green as newcomers to the Wednesday cast for Season 3 are Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, James Lance, Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer, many of whom have worked with executive producer and director Tim Burton.

"I’m so excited to be back for Season 3, and it’s great to be reunited with all of the original cast. The addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine — Winona, Eva, Chris, Noah … makes this season extra special. I feel very lucky," Burton told Tudum.

The first two seasons of Wednesday are available to stream on Netflix. Season 3 is expected to premiere in 2027.
